How Backflow Testing Works
To protect the public drinking water supply, local water departments and cities actively monitor all water services. Property owners are required to maintain compliance by preventing potential cross-connections—situations where contaminated water could flow back into the clean water system.
Backflow prevention devices are installed to stop this from happening. These devices must be tested upon installation and annually thereafter to ensure they are functioning properly.
Annual Testing & Notifications
Once a backflow device is registered with a city, county, or water authority, the property owner will receive an annual notice requiring testing. This notice often includes a list of certified backflow testers who are approved to perform the inspection.
Customers can contact us by phone, email, or through our website to schedule their required test. We respond quickly with available appointment dates and do our best to accommodate scheduling preferences.
Scheduling & Communication
Due to the dynamic nature of daily routing and service calls, we typically schedule by date rather than exact time windows. However, we offer flexible communication options, including:
- Text notification upon arrival
- A knock on the door
- No notification (if preferred)
Our goal is to make the process as convenient and hassle-free as possible.
On-Site Testing Process
When we arrive, we locate the backflow device associated with the property and perform a certified backflow test. Once completed, we submit the results to the appropriate authority—either through an online portal, email, or mail—depending on the jurisdiction.
After submission, we provide the customer with:
- A copy of the certified test report form
- An invoice for services
Payment is due upon receipt, and we offer multiple payment options, including credit/debit card and check.
If Your Backflow Fails
If a device does not pass inspection, we will:
- Notify the customer immediately
- Explain the issue clearly
- Recommend the appropriate repair or replacement
We will also provide a return date and time to complete the necessary repairs and bring the system back into compliance.
