City Certified Backflow Prevention
Emergency dispatch

24 Hour Emergency Backflow Service

Leaks, failed devices, freeze damage, theft, and water-district shut-off notices. We dispatch the same day and can usually restore compliance within hours.

  • Dispatch: 2 – 4 hrs typical daytime
  • Parts on truck: common DCVA / PVB spares
  • Coverage: Central Valley, Bay Area, Central Coast

For active flooding from a failed assembly, shut off the upstream isolation valve if safe to do so, then call us.

What we respond to

Water-district shut-off notice

Received a notice that water service will be curtailed for non-compliance? We test, repair if needed, and file the passing report the same day. Most districts pause the shut-off once a passing test is on file.

Leaking or gushing backflow assembly

Relief valve dumping water, split body, cracked bonnet, or failed o-ring. We isolate, repair or replace on-site, and re-commission.

Freeze damage (winter Sierra foothills)

Split brass bodies and cracked check plates from overnight freezes in the Sierra foothills and North Bay. Replacement plus proper insulation guidance.

Theft or vandalism

Assembly removed for scrap brass value, or damaged in a hit-and-run. We stock replacements and can add a theft-resistant cage in the same visit.

Failed annual test with urgent deadline

Test failed and your renewal window is days away. Same-day repair of rubber kits, check valves, or relief valves; retest and re-filing included.

Sudden loss of pressure on fire or irrigation

A backflow blockage or stuck check can throttle pressure on your downstream system. We diagnose and correct without needing a full shut-off in most cases.

We publish a written estimate before starting work, even on emergency calls. No surprise billing — parts and labor are quoted on site before work begins.

Emergency response process

  1. 1

    Call (800) 684-8346

Describe the issue. Text photos of the assembly and any district notice while we route a truck. Dispatch triage begins immediately.

  2. 2

    On-site triage

Our certified technician assesses the device, quotes repair versus replacement, and confirms parts on the truck for common sizes.

  3. 3

Repair or replace the same day

Most residential and light-commercial issues are resolved on the first visit. Large RP replacements on non-stocked sizes may require a next-business-day return.

  4. 4

    Re-commissioning test

Once service is restored, we run the certified test procedure and prepare a passing test report.

  5. 5

    Same-day district filing

We file the passing report with your water district within hours to lift shut-off holds and restore compliance status.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a backflow emergency?

A leaking backflow assembly, a device that froze and split, a stolen or vandalized device, a failed test paired with a water-district shut-off notice, or a sudden loss of pressure on a fire or irrigation line. Anything that puts you on the purveyor's non-compliance list or threatens water service is an emergency.

How fast can you get on-site?

We aim to dispatch the same day during normal hours, with overnight and weekend calls handled as crews become available, depending on where the property is within our California footprint. Call (800) 684-8346 first so we can start triage while a truck is routing.

My water district threatened shut-off — can you fix it today?

Almost always yes. We test, repair (rubber kit, check valve, or relief valve replacement), and re-file the report with your district the same day. Districts will usually pause a shut-off action once they see a passing test report on file.

Do you handle frozen or split devices in the Sierra foothills?

Yes. Valley Children's / Madera Ranchos, Oakhurst, and Sierra-adjacent properties commonly see freeze splits in winter. We carry common DCVA and PVB spares on the truck and can install a replacement plus commission it in a single visit.

A device was stolen from our property — can you help?

Yes. We stock common commercial assembly sizes, can fabricate a temporary cap/isolation plate to restore water service safely while a replacement is ordered, and install the new assembly plus a theft-resistant cage to prevent recurrence. Stolen-assembly incidents are very common in certain California industrial corridors.

What should I do before you arrive?

If there's visible water flow from the device, shut off the upstream isolation valve if it is accessible and safe. Turn off irrigation controllers. Take photos of the device and any notice you have from the water district. Text them to our dispatcher so the technician can arrive with the right parts.
